If you read our Meet Smartini page, you might have noticed that I introduced myself as Brian “Butch” Smith. Very few of you know why, so I’m gonna tell you. It’s simple: I always wanted a nickname, and one of my favorite movies of all time is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid – Newman and Redford in certainly one of the best buddy movies of all time, with some really funny dialogue.
Sundance, chuckling: “You just keep thinkin’, Butch. That’s what you’re good at.”
At least five years ago, probably more, I started telling a few people about this, and they actually started calling me Butch – my cousin Bill Higgins, Joe Ponds, and Gary White. But I just never got in the habit of introducing myself as Butch, so it stalled. But now – since Fran and I will be meeting new people all the time – it seems like a perfect opportunity to try again.
If you wanna join in, that’d be great! But I won’t be offended if you don’t – it’s a hard habit to get into, believe me.
Okay…….so Butch it’ll be. So for Fran…..I guess we’ll stick with Fran for now, seeing how she probably doesn’t want to be Sundance
